Is Florida becoming gun happy?

A 17-year-old African American named Jordan Russell Davis was shot and killed Friday by 45-year-old Michael David Dunn over a confrontation about loud music coming from the teen’s parked car across from a convenience store in Jacksonville, Fla.
Davis and his friends were sitting in their sport utility vehicle in the parking lot when Dunn and his girlfriend stopped at the store. Noticing the loud music, Dunn pulled up next to them in a car and asked them to turn down the music, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.
Jordan and Dunn allegedly had a verbal confrontation that resulted in Dunn pulling a gun and firing eight or nine times. Two bullets struck Jordan, who was sitting in the back seat, as told by Jacksonville sheriff investigator Lt. Rob Schoonover.
CNN reports that Dunn allegedly heard threats from the teens and felt threatened and thought he saw a gun in the teen’s car. He grabbed his gun and fired at least eight shots that killed Davis. Later, it was learned that there were no guns found inside the teen’s car, as the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Jordan Russell Davis was a high school student at Samuel W. Wolfson High in Duval County. His body will be buried in her mother’s hometown of Marietta, Ga. Dunn was arrested Saturday at his home in Satellite Beach on charges of murder and attempted murder. He was denied bond on Monday.

The attorney for Michael Dunn, who shot and killed Jordan Davis after an altercation about loud music, argued why Dunn was justified to use a lethal weapon against his victim. The lawyer, Robin Lemonidis, alleged that there were violent threats from the SUV Dunn shot at, as well as a shotgun produced from inside it. Angela Corey, who is prosecuting on the Trayvon Martin case, is also prosecuting on this on

Here we go again: a Florida man is now claiming self-defense and will possibly invoke the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law after shooting eight rounds into a car full of black teens, killing one, and fleeing the scene, all because the teens allegedly did not turn down their loud music and the man claims to have seen a gun that did not exist.

  1. Such a senseless crime! Was it legal for Dunn to carry a gun?

  2. cali patti says:

I do not understand Florida’s gun carrying people. I’m fairly certain Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming probably California, plus, have a large number of permits issued to carry. Seems that a permit to carry in Florida somehow translated into a permit to shoot.
A few months ago two gun toting men held up a small store holding clerks and customers at gun point. A customer from outside, with a permit to carry, saw what was going on, tried to stop the robbery, ended up killing one of them. His name was never released. He was called a hero as to how he tried to get the thieves just to leave.
Heard one man say if he was going to be shot in a leg or arm he would not pull his weapon out. He would hate to have to defend his actions in a California court. True! Defending your life not your property, no matter what the law says is how the courts tend to rule. Plus defense of your life better not be implied, but a real threat.
Not all our courts are the same either. Change from north to south. You have to know your areas courts.
    To many guns out there.

  3. Marilyn says:

I can’t tell you how frightening this is to me!If everyone who ever heard loud music coming from a car next to them acted like this maniac,God help us all!It is quite obvious he IS a raciest!!I don’t consider this case the same as the Travon Martin case at all.George Zimmerman was not white, first of all,and there’s a lot more about that case, that’s not being said,in my opinion!I have a mixed Grandson(who has dark skin),who I love sooo much,I would just die if something like this happened to my Grandson!!He likes loud music(even when he is in the shower)His friends do also!I Anyone who would take such offense at such an innocent thing as music,is absolutely off their rocker!I hate loud people in a restaurant, but would I shoot them?I think not!!This is a clear raciest case and should be handled as such, and this man,in my opinion deserves the death penalty!I hope Florida goes after him with both barrels, even as far as making an example of him! God,I feel so bad for this young man!

  4. Nanna Frances~~I expect Dunn had a conceal and carry permit for that gun. There are very few people in the state of Florida, that are of legal age, who do not have the C&C’s.

  5. Cali~~it seems like the Wild West is still in existence in y’all country. I think Dunn had a few drinks under his belt and was in a nasty mood to have let a little loud music get on his nerves. It wasn’t like he was going to have to spend hours listening to it. Since he drove away once his girlfriend returned with her wine purchase, they had no proof of his blood alcohol level or if he was driving under the influence, possibly another reason he left the scene. Dunn will make bail and then we shall await another trial. Another young black male will never have a future….damn damn damn guns.

  6. Marilyn~~I thank God that I live in a country with strict gun control. We have teenagers in the neighborhood who drive by blaring their music. One even bragged that he could bounce a quarter off the top of his car with his music. I am not sure if he will have premature deafness. lol I don’t know enough about Dunn to say it was racially motivated but I will say he needs some anger management.

  7. Dunn is being held on no bond and will be arraigned on Dec 19th.

  8. Marilyn says:

Gosh,I could just cry over this Mother’s pain, and I absolutely feel the same emotions, even tho, this is not my son.I only put myself in her place if this was my Grandson.I have no idea what kind of person this Dunn is,and I wouldn’t want too.Come on,music is music, loud or not!I can remember(lots of times)playing my loud oldies, but goodies, songs in my home as a young person, and riding around our town as teenagers and more!Thank God,there was no such person, young or old that wanted to shoot us!!As far as guns go,I believe in an owners right to bare arms, but this is not his right to decide to shoot anyone who is playing loud music!I’ve lived in apartments, homes, and plenty of times I’ve heard kids go by my house(or sit outside waiting for someone they know to come out)and NEVER have I decided to get my gun and go shoot or kill someone for it!!I certainly believe not only a hate crime, but I believe(my opinion)he is certainly a RACIEST!!

  9. Marilyn~~I just can’t wrap my head around how people judge others by the color of their skin. How do these white people know that God is not black? White artists painted all the pictures that we see of Biblical characters so we just assume they are right. I am terrified of hand guns but have been around rifles and shotguns used for hunting game. I think the FBI will do a thorough investigation to see if Dunn is a racists. It will be interesting to see what they uncover.

  10. Vicky says:

This is so sad! Another young man killed by a mentally unstable gun owner.
I wonder if it ever occurs to those individuals that they are the person they are so frightened of. I dont usually advocate for the taking of one’s own life, but perhaps these people should point their trigger finger at themselves. Then we would know for certain the world is a safer place.

Heck, I got in my car this morning and scared the chit out of myself when I turned the ignition. I didn’t realize I was jamming so loud on my way home last evening. Thank God some maniac didn’t pull up along side me. then again, it was Country, so I probably wasn’t at risk from some gun toating redneck. I think my hearing must be better in the morning, but I can say with certainty I did plenty of damage in my younger years. I agree, if loud music translates as a reason to kill, young folks (and old grandma’s) better travel with bullet proof vests and helmets.

  11. Vicky~~Dunn just came from a wedding reception where the booze happens to be a plenty. It sounds to me that Dunn + liquor=bad temper/raw nerves. . Did he leave the scene so he would not be charged with DUI?? This case will have lots of unanswered questions too.

  12. Newbie says:

I’m wondering what was in the mind of Dunn’s girlfriend when leaving the scene of the shooting. Did she hear the gun shots when coming out with her purchase of a bottle of wine (wine if memory serves me right). How long had this woman been with him and will she admit to how much he had to drink at the reception or will she help him try to cover his $ss. I suppose it is too much to hope that she will speak truthfully about Dunn’s attitude if he is a racist, how much he had to drink, what he was saying while leaving the scene and what was said after leaving the scene (at his place if she was staying there).

  13. cali patti says:

I also do not like second hand music however my sons remind me that I played music so loud my windows in the car would vibrate. Damn kids memory. I like country music also so I must be right! ha ha That makes Vicky right also. Right about what is yet to be determined.
To me Mr. Dunn was one of those foul tempered men who wants everything in life his way. Mix that with booze, a gun and teens that did not give a shit about Mr. Dunn’s wishes and a dead child is the result. (run on sentence?) He could have waited 5 minutes and just driven away. With 7-8 shots fired it is fortunate only one teen was killed.

  14. cali patti says:

I’ve traveled alone and camped alone. I’ve never carried a gun. I do have a spray but often misplace it in my tent or car. I try to be aware and be smart about where I stay. I don’t understand the fear some people have. I also don’t understand why some believe that their life is more important than others, why are they so special? Hope I made sense.

  15. Cali~~here is my all time favorite… doing household chores to this piece is a cinch…yehaw…

  16. Newbie~~I am anxious to find out more about this Dunn. The media outlets will be coming out with some info on him soon. We don’t know how close a relationship he had with this girlfriend. Will she be loyal to him or tell all? Maybe someone will flash some $$$’s her way to get her talking.

  17. Here is some evidence that will be damning to Dunn…

Our victim was shot a couple of times. …They were listening to the music. It was loud; they [other teens] admitted that. But I mean that is not a reason for someone to open fire on them.

When his girlfriend returned to the car, Dunn drove off, admitting to her that he “fired at these kids.” After hearing a news report that someone died in the shooting at their Jacksonville hotel, the couple returned to their home to Brevard County, Fla. Witnesses of the shooting took down Dunn’s license plate number, which, on Saturday, helped police find Dunn’s house, where he was then arrested

    and….

Jacksonville Attorney Gene Nichols, however, said that although Dunn will most likely make a “Stand Your Ground” defense based on his statements in court, it’s a tough case to make.

    He said:

Mr. Dunn is going to have to answer the question, ‘Why did you not call the sheriff’s office? If you are reasonably protecting yourself, why did you leave the scene, get in the car, and the next day, flee the jurisdiction of Duval County?’ … There’s no indication that Jordan or anyone else in that car had a gun, there’s no indication that they were any threat to Mr. Dunn.

  20. Vicky says:

Good grief, if anyone buys that “they had a shotgun crap” they are bigger fools than the man who opened fire on a carload of teenagers! I’m so damn tired of the willingness of people to buy into the stereotyping of young people of any color. Had those kids actually been armed with a gun of any type, they darn sure wouldn’t have allowed some redneck SOB to shoot at them without returning fire. I’m sure Dunn, along with anyone who believes him, is under the impression that only gangstas ride around with tinted windows, amplifiers and ginormous woofers and tweeters in their vehicles. I’ve got news for them. Spoiled rotten middle class kids have been known to do the same thing. my son being one of them. He got so good at custom building speaker boxes, that kids all over town paid him to hook them up. my garage used to look life electronics central.
If Dunn didn’t like their music or the level at which it was being played, he should have taken down their license plate number and phoned in a complaint to the local PD. If there was a decibel ordinance in effect, I’m sure LE would have been more than happy to issue a citation. My son got a few of those. LOL. And on occasion, the cop that pulled him over checked out his system, and gave him a warning. BTW, back in the day, they had competitions for sound systems in cars.

  21. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Michael Dunn is claiming self defense in the shooting death of a local high school teen. Dunn could try for a “Stand Your Ground” case.

  22. cali patti says:

IMO, Dunn will spend his remaining years in prison. His self-righteous, bully attitude put Dunn away. Years ago I recall having a permit to carry was issued on a need. A business owner that carried money for a deposit or a high crime area. Just because I want to carry wasn’t a good enough reason to be issued a permit.
IMO Dunn should be in prison but he is also in his right to put up a defense for himself. He will be fighting for less years in prison. I’m ok with that also. At age 45 a year or two could matter.

  23. Now, for the first time, we’re hearing Dunn’s side of the story, from his attorney Robin Lemonidis. She said, “They were blasting some rap music. And he said he rolled down his window, pulled up on the passenger side, and rolled down his window and asked, would you mind turning that down? And said it very politely.”

The attorney says the teenager in the front seat turned down the radio. But then she says her client heard the teens cussing at him, making threats. She says Dunn rolled down his window and said, “He said excuse me, are you talking to me?”

At that point, she says one of the teenagers told Dunn he was dead. “And that’s when the guy in the back seat raised the barrel of a shotgun over the rim of the window,” said Lemonidis. “At that point, he just snapped into self protection mode.

Dunn’s attorney claims that’s when her client reached for a gun he had in the glove compartment of his car, loaded it, and fired. “Firing at the car, because they’re showing him a gun, and he can’t see their hands,” she said. “And he doesn’t know. They’re about to blast him in the face with a shotgun, as far as he knows.

There are no comparisons to the Trayvon Martin situation,” said Robin Lemonidis, Dunn’s attorney. “He is devastated and horrified by the death of the teen.

  24. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
As family members of 17-year-old Jordan Davis mourn his death, the man accused of killing him is building his case. That includes the addition of one prominent local attorney, Mitch Stone, who has had success using the “stand your ground” defense before.

Still, defense attorney Gene Nichols says it will be an uphill battle for Michael Dunn, who’s charged with murder after police said he shot into an SUV during a dispute over loud music at a gas station, killing Davis (pictured below).

“It’s going to be incredibly hard to establish a ‘stand your ground’ defense if they cannot establish that a gun was involved,” Nichols said.

  26. Vicky~~a very close friend of mine has a small fortune of ‘boom boom’ equipment in the trunk of his car. He is 64 and has been entering competitions for years. He gets together with his son on Sunday mornings and this neighborhood rocks. It doesn’t bother me but one woman who lives nearby complains all the time. The problem is, she complains to me and wants me to ask him to turn things down, I told her one day that I am not the major of this town. He doesn’t live with me but nearby. He must make the dishes rattle in her cupboards too. lol

  30. I think the prosecution will focus on Dunn’s frame of mind when he left the wedding so will delve into finding some answers. Was his ex present at the wedding that may have opened some old wounds? Why was Dunn and his son estranged for five years? This may indicate the booze mixed with his past may have been the reason he left the wedding early. His son said he left early to take care of a new puppy. His girlfriend purchased wine and they headed off to their hotel. Was the puppy at the hotel? Once he learned about the shooting, he took off to their home 150 miles away??? He left the scene of his gun happy escapade not knowing someone took down his license plate number. Rebecca, his daughter said her father was a smart smart man… well, he just wasn’t smart enough when he did not call 911 and report the incident. This case reminds me a bit of John Goodman…rich dudes who think they are above the law.

  31. Marilyn says:

I agree with you, some of these wealthy people think they can(and some do)get away from any crime they do!Their defense lawyer will come up with the most outrageous defenses to get them off too!I don’t care if one of the guys in the car was arrested last year. They had no gun,he’s a hater of “probably rap music”and no regard to a life!I hope whoever judges him(besides God)will absolutely give him the max!!If he was thinking of his kids,he wouldn’t have shot another parents kid!!In my opinion he was a racist from the word go!!

  32. Marilyn~~Dunn will probably get bonded out with a GPS for a million bucks and then it will be delays and months before it goes to trial. When it goes to trial, he will be found guilty and then his lawyer will appeal the case and he will go back out in society with a GPS. The appellate courts take a year or better to make their decision. They haven’t even come to their decision about Casey’s appeal.

  34. Vicky says:

This open letter written by Melissa Harris-Perry is on target as far as I’m concerned.
    http://tv.msnbc.com/2012/12/01/if-you-are-a-young-black-man-who-you-are-is-threat-enough/

“It’s me, Melissa. And if you are like me, this latest news has got you concerned, indeed. Because here we are again. It has been barely a year since the killing of Trayvon Martin resurrected that old angst–long buried, but always there just below the surface. You know that feeling. It’s the one that makes us hear about Trayvon, and now Jordan Davis, and reach back across decades into our history, for the name of another boy named Emmett Till.
Then, it was a whistle at a white woman. Now, it’s a hooded sweatshirt or music being played loudly from a car.
But always, this one thing has been the same–No presumption of innocence for young black men.  No benefit of the doubt. Guilt–not determined by what they did or said–but presumed to be inherent in their very being. They need not wield a weapon to pose a threat. Because, if you are a young, black man, who you are is threat enough. And in yet another case, it seems, that perceived threat is justification enough for someone who would play judge, jury and executioner.
Jordan Russell Davis will be laid to rest today. His father described his son as a typical teenager, who was looking forward to staring his first job, working at McDonald’s. He was saving up to buy his first car. The day before he died, his mother says, he gave the Thanksgiving dinner prayer, where he gave thanks for his family.
But before Jordan could be eulogized at his funeral, the defense team for the man who is accused of killing him was already telling a different story about who this young man was. According to police, Jordan and his three friends were sitting in an SUV at a Jacksonville gas station, when Dunn pulled up next to them and asked them to turn down their music down. Words were exchanged. This is the story Dunn’s attorney, Robin Lemonidis, about why her client felt threatened:
“He sees that much of a shotgun coming up over the rim of the SUV…and all he sees are heavily tinted front windows that are up and the back windows that are down, and the car has at least four black men in it, and he doesn’t know how old anyone is, and he doesn’t know anything, but he knows a shotgun when he sees one because he got his first gun as a gift from his grandparents when he was in third grade.”
Police have found no evidence that Jordan and his friends had any weapon in their car.
But Michael David Dunn, a registered gun owner, did have one. He used his gun to fire eight rounds into the boys’ vehicle. Two of those bullets struck and killed Jordan Davis, who was sitting in the backseat. Dunn fled the scene.
These are the facts as we know them today. As the investigation continues, details will no doubt continue to emerge. But as we watch the case unfold, let us be sure, while we are watching, that we continue to see in Jordan Davis what Michael Dunn did not–a human being, instead of a threat.”
    Sincerely,
    Melissa

  35. Newbie says:

Well, Michael David Dunn fired eight rounds….EIGHT !! And how long was he going to be at the gas station? And, he had to park in the area where the music was loud?? If the persons running the business didn’t have a problem with it, just who in the hell did he think he was? Of course not seeing his son for five years and then making luncheon plans the next day to see his son? Nothing like honoring the couple by blowing into town, leaving the wedding early and making plans for the couples first day of being married. Betcha he would have canceled the luncheon plans anyway.
Dunn will have to die one day and God will return him to earth as a black man…..wearing a hoodie….playin music a tad loud…..then Dunn will learn maybe.

  36. Vicky~~it is so damn heartbreaking. I just can’t find the right words. In Dunn’s case, I see a combination of booze, temper, a gun handy and the color black. People are scared to mention that racism exists, here, your country and elsewhere. I cannot imagine how it feels to be a young black teenager. I am hoping Dunn wont be able to make bond but that is just a pipe dream. He has money…need I say more?

I think when some whites see a black person they fill up with rage and it takes very little to set them off. I think this is what happened to Dunn. I also think he was in a foul mood when he left the wedding. We will learn more about Mr Dunn as this story unravels. Zimmerman viewed Trayvon as ‘up to no good’ and Dunn viewed the blacks in the SUV as ‘no damn good.’

  37. Hey there, Newbie, you snuck in here as I was typing. Dunn will have to stand before the real Judge one day. We don’t always get to see justice prevail here on earth… maybe that Judge is a black man and St Peter too.

  38. Eight rounds from his vehicle shows more rage than fearing for his life.

  39. Newbie says:

You betcha, we don’t know for sure but we do know Jesus would have had darker skin ….not the lilly white Jesus in many pictures we see.
I think prejudice people do need to be sent back to earth in the form of those they persecuted with their prejudice…..when I get to heaven I’m going to ask St. Peter if I can have a private meeting and go over this…lol. Lord, I say something like that and watch for the lightning to strike me.

  40. I have stop talking bad about you know who….not who you think…no no…not her..lol I don’t want to come back as ‘you know’….

  41. Look at this… I wonder what his alcohol level was at the time…we will never know….

“He didn’t think he had harmed anybody and he just thought he had scared them off and he wanted to report it, but he didn’t want to go in a sense, throw himself to the wolves in a strange city without representation,” Lemonidis said.

  42. Marilyn says:

I probably am in the minority here, but I simply don’t put Travon Martin in the same case as Jordon,he did nothing to provoke Dunn, and Zimmerman was absolutely beaten, the actually bloodied nose picture just now showing up in the Prosecutors, case(the colored one)after 8 months?I believe there’s much more to THIS story.Jordon did NOTHING to provoke this evil person, who thinks he’s above the law!!Different scenario, period.MO!

  43. cali patti says:

My father was a gun store owner, a marksman in the Marines, our gun ownership goes back generations. Yet as a family we own very few hand guns. Maybe 2 or 3 throughout the entire family. That is all the generations combined. Rifles have always been our choice. Even as a woman i love target shooting, love going into the hills and showing off to my boys that I can still out shoot them. None carry a hand gun.
I am in favor of hand gun control when it comes to permits to carry. I want very harsh sentencing for everyone found carrying a handgun without a permit. If people KNOW that a hefty fine ~ that will never go away (similar to student loans) for 1st offense and mandatory jail for 2nd offense, etc People would stop carrying. It worked in California with seat belts. At one time California had the highest percentage of seat belt wearers. That was because the FINE/Punishment was mandatory. I st offence was a light fine, the second offense was considerably harsh and it became drastically painful if caught the 3 rd time. The mandatory punishment mixed with LE that never stopped writing up the seat belt violation is what changed seat belt wearing in Calif.
It would work with hand guns also.
NFL players should not be issued permits to carry just because they now have money. How damn dumb. Permits should also LIMIT when a person can carry. Only allowed to carry for the reason permit was issued, not a blanket permit. Dunn had no reason to be carrying a handgun, with or without a permit.

  44. Marilyn~~I agree with you about that color photo of Zimmerman. You are not in the minority here!! I wonder what the jurors or (the Judge in the immunity trial) will conclude from those nasty looking injuries. This case is not a slam dunk that Zimmerman will be found guilty.

One thing about my blog….all opinions both pro and con are welcome and you will never be run off by voicing your opinions.

  45. I took the opportunity to read this motion last evening. I seldom pay any heed to rumors but now I am wondering if the rumor that Dee Dee is 18 years old rather than a minor at 16 is factual. I believe Zimmerman’s defense would like to know the truth. Why is Ben Crump not cooperating with law enforcement? I realize he is representing the Martins but he has taken on the role of being a spokesman for the state. Why wont Crump pass over his recording device? Why did Crump interview Dee Dee in the first place? He said he did not trust Sanford PD so decided to prosecute this case by recording the interview with Dee Dee. This leaves one to wonder if Dee Dee was coached into what to say. Why was the audio recording edited?? What was finally passed over to the defense is barely audible. Why?? Why is Tracy Martin hanging on to that PIN number of Trayvon’s cell phone?

If Zimmerman is to have a fair trial, let’s be fair. I am all for looking at both sides of this case so would like some answers. If either side has nothing incriminating to hide, then why hide it?

MOTION TO COMPEL PRODUCTION OF EVIDENCE FROM THIRD-PARTY

  46. Cali~~are you trying to convince us that you are another Annie Oakley? I had a nice gentleman try and teach me the art of archery one summer. The target was on the side of a barn. I couldn’t even hit the dang barn let alone the target. I had great strength in my arms and one arrow almost maimed a big holstein cow that was yards away in a pasture. That is no bull!

We have strict seatbelt laws here, no talking on cell phones while driving, no smoking in vehicles where minors are present and no smoking in any public establishments, no conceal and carry gun permits, etc etc. We have people breaking those laws and they get relieved of a few bucks in the way of fines.

  47. There is some interesting info in that discovery. It certainly doesn’t indicate Zimmerman was/is a racist.

Fisher thinks the photo is significant and Crump adds his 2 cents worth…

The attorney for Trayvon Martin’s family, Benjamin Crump, released a statement in response to the photo’s release, which read, “This is the picture we’ve already seen. It’s now in color, there’s nothing that changes what police concluded, which is that if George Zimmerman would have never gotten out of his car and had waited on the police to do their job, there would have never been any interaction between him and Trayvon Martin.”

Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of second-degree murder defendant George Zimmerman, was granted a continuance this week in her perjury case, court records show.

Mainstreamerfair, that would be me also,I couldn’t hit the side of a barn either!Lol!I do envy people who can, however, man or woman,as long as it is a hobby, and not for evil deeds.Or hunting, either, but not humans!I really hate that they are going after George Zimmerman’s wife, but refused to go after Cindy Anthony, which was an outright perjury. Also a murder, not a financial one!Grandmother of the victim or not,you don’t lie to protect a daughter(that you know her lies are endless)to disregard your dear little Granddaughter’s murder. Not in my books!

  50. Marilyn~~I believe that Shellie Zimmerman’s lawyer is trying to get the perjury charges thrown out because Angela Corey was working out of her jurisdiction when the charges were filed against Shellie. Angela was called in as a special prosecutor to oversee the George Zimmerman/Martin case. I am unsure how that works as I cannot understand some Florida laws.

As to Cindy Anthony, I felt like shaking the chit out of her. Remember giving the wrong hairbrush to LE and admitting it in an email. She was obstructing justice but nothing was done because she was a grieving grandma. She lied under oath on the stand about searching for the chloroform, again it was just swept under the rug. Cindy is not much better than Casey…money and making big $$$’s took priority over her murdered g/daughter.

  51. Marilyn says:

Sometimes I wonder if George and Cindy actually have people that like them, knowing all the lies, monies, they have accepted by the death of their only Granddaughter. You never hear any of their family commenting on their lives now. It’d kind of be different if they actually felt some remorse for their daughters action, but truth be known, they probably still see, support her. That is,if she lets them. That picture that you have posted on your site,of that evil look she gives Zenaida’s lawyers is so telling of her personality,it’s uncanny.I wonder also,if they are still not working and living off taxpayer’s money.More than likely!Sorry to have gotten off subject, but I hope nothing good comes their way, because of their actions!

Marilyn, Cindy has friends but if they are true blue friends is another thing. No problem, your comments were just fine.~~SS

  52. George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin case update: FBI interviewed Zimmerman’s neighbors about racism

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — FBI agents interviewed George Zimmerman’s neighbors about whether he was racist and asked other residents about the legacy of racism in the city where Trayvon Martin was shot, according to documents made public Tuesday by the former neighborhood watch captain’s attorney.
The FBI interviews released by Zimmerman’s attorney reflect the scope of the U.S. Justice Department’s civil rights investigation into Martin’s shooting and how it was handled by the Sanford Police Department. The identities of those interviewed were redacted.
Zimmerman is charged with fatally shooting Martin in February during a confrontation at a gated community. He is pleading not guilty, claiming self-defense under Florida’s “stand your ground” law.

  53. Well look at this. I never thought Z would go thru with it…

5:51 p.m. | Updated George Zimmerman, accused of second-degree murder in the shooting of Trayvon Martin earlier this year, filed suit against NBCUniversal on Thursday, alleging that the company’s editing of his voice on a 911 tape constituted defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The suit, filed in circuit court in Seminole County, Fla., asked for a jury trial. A spokeswoman for NBCUniversal said in response to the suit, “We strongly disagree with the accusations made in the complaint. There was no intent to portray Mr. Zimmerman unfairly. We intend to vigorously defend our position in court.”

The suit charges that journalists at NBC News intentionally edited Mr. Zimmerman’s statements to make him appear to be a “racist, predatory villain.

  54. As far as Zimmerman suing NBC, all the best to him. Editing and distorting material so it will sell is underhanded. I like to think that when I listen to or watch news broadcasts that I am getting the truth. I listened to the edited version of the 911 and felt that when Zimmerman said, “he’s black” he put emphasis on the word ‘black’. Did NBC doctor that word too?

All those against Z will moan, whine and complain and say he’s as low as they come for filing the suit. Those for him will rally together and yell yipee in hopes he will fill his pockets with some of NBC’s money. It is so much easier to bitch and complain or sing Z’s praises than to look at the facts. The fact is that NBC edited a 911 audio because ‘racism’ sells by luring the readers/listeners. People should be discussing news outlets and some of the unhanded things they do to sell their products and increase ratings. The brain challenged find it much easier to bitch, moan and complain or praise laud, and back slap good old Zimmerman with every little iota of breaking news.

At the blogs, that I am beginning to frequent less and less every day, it has to be black or white, in other words, pro or con. I cannot find a blog that is a ‘happy medium’ where people do not mind seriously using some of that gray matter to weigh the evidence and discuss it in a civil manner. Going to some blogs is like walking into a den of pitt bulls. It is like they all have repetitive stress syndrome of their thought processes.

That’s the way I see it anyway. If you ever catch me using the words, “just sayin'”, for God’s sake bitch slap me!

    Goodnight, Elizabeth!

  55. I do not think Zimmerman will get the GPS off and get to go dancing with Shellie any time soon. I think this is just a ploy; ask for the moon and stars and hope to get the latter and that is to be able to travel out of Seminole county.

George Zimmerman wants GPS device removed

  56. Karen C. says:

Snoopy- I looked at that video you have linked above, on the Dunn case. There ain’t no way it happened like he claims, and I can only imagine that his emotive attorney is relying on the rep for ineptitude that LE there has been steadily accumulating to have a shot at a long gun somehow going magically missing… she should have gone into screenwriting.

  57. STATE’S RESPONSE TO DEFENDANT’S MOTION TO COMPEL PRODUCTION OF EVIDENCE FROM THIRD-PARTY

  58. Prosecutor: Zimmerman trying to ‘co-opt the mantle of victimhood’ from Trayvon Martin

In a blistering response to a recent filing by George Zimmerman’s defense team, prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda accuses the second-degree murder defendant of attempting “to co-opt the mantle of victimhood for himself.”

Zimmerman’s legal team had asked Circuit Judge Debra Nelson to force an attorney for the family of Trayvon Martin, the Miami Gardens teen shot by Zimmerman Feb. 26 in Sanford, to turn over a recorded interview of a witness described as the teen’s girlfriend.

In its filing, the defense argued Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump was not forthcoming in response to requests for the original copy of the recording of the girl, who is identified in prosecution documents as “Witness 8.”

  59. I did not watch the hearing today so am getting a bit of info from news clips. It was no great surprise that Zimmerman will have to wear his GPS monitor. I agree with Judge Nelson on that one. I really don’t think O’Mara expected that motion to be granted and just filed it to appease his client.

I do believe the defense is entitled to have the original recording that Crump made of Dee Dee so another good call on Nelson’s part. I did get to see De La Rionda waving his arms and screaming. That man is a heart attack waiting to happen. Mark, as usual displayed his professionalism in the courtroom and of course I expected nothing less..

  60. New Zimmerman evidence: Serino changed final report four times in five hours

SANFORD – After Chris Serino, the Sanford police detective who led the investigation into the Trayvon Martin shooting death, wrote the most important police report in the case, he revised it at least four times.

And he made at least one huge change: He initially said George Zimmerman should be charged with second-degree murder then changed course and recommended a charge of manslaughter, according to a prosecutor and new list of evidence.

Serino made all those revisions to the report summarizing his findings during one five-hour stretch on March 13, according to a newly-released evidence list.

In the first two drafts, according to Assistant State Attorney Bernie de la Rionda, Serino wrote that he had probable cause to recommend a second-degree murder charge. Then, over the next hour, he changed the report twice more and in his final version wrote that the evidence supported the lesser charge.

One of Serino’s supervisors, Sanford police Capt. Bob O’Connor, said in a July 3 interview that everyone in Serino’s chain of command agreed with the investigator’s conclusion. Serino’s direct supervisor, then-Sgt. Randy Smith, also signed the final version.

  61. Is Florida bragging or complaining? I understand that there was a shooting in a mall in Oregon. Two innocent people got killed and another seriously injured. The shooter in his twenties just wanted to have some fun so he stole a gun (high powered rifle I believe) and off to the mall he went and started shooting at random. When he was cornered by the police, he turned the gun on himself. If you want to commit suicide now folks, see how many you can take with you on your journey off this earth. Damn guns in the wrong hands!!

Florida To Reach One Million Concealed Weapons Permits Next Week, State Says

If there were any doubt about the Sunshine State becoming the “wild, wild west,” Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam announced Wednesday that Florida will soon notch its millionth concealed carry weapons permit.

A press release from Putnam’s office hailed the benchmark as a “milestone” that “highlights history, privacy protections, and [the] success of [the] program” since Florida issued its first statewide concealed firearms license in 1987.

The state reports 997,066 valid license holders as of Wednesday, a number Putnam estimated will balloon to seven digits sometime next week — faster than any other state in the nation. One in 17 Floridians already had a license to carry a hidden firearm when the state reduced application and renewal fees in July.

  62. Karen C. says:

Well, the proof will be in the pudding when the bodies start piling up, and they have to find funding to put on trial and then put away even more newly-minted convicts. It is hard for me to imagine that, given Florida’s booze-soaked, drug-addled, thieving and grifting, hard-partying “culture” that the numbers of utterly ridiculous gun deaths don’t go zooming into the stratosphere. The Supremes tossed Chicago’s picayune no-handguns-within-the-city law and lookie what’s happened there…

  63. Marilyn says:

There could be laws up the Gazoo, but outlaws, and whoever whats to do the dirty deed of Murder or robbery will find a gun, come hell or high water!! Age ole story.Doesn’t matter what state.

  64. margaret says:

I have not been keeping up with this story much..I may be wrong but it sounds to me like Dunn is an egotistical maniac. He would probably have done the same thing if it had been a load of white boys in the car. He has an attitude that anything that upsets him, he has a right to destroy. I have young people that drive by my house and it feels like the house is vibrating, I guess Dunn would want to shoot everyone of them.. They are young people and will grow up one day and leave it behind. Why did Dunn not get in his car and drive away. But he was such a bully that he had to act stupid..IMO this case is totally different from Zimmerman. He must have been trying to impress that woman he was with.

  65. Margaret~news about this case is very little. The Zimmerman case seems to be the big money maker for the news outlets. Dunn’s girlfriend was in the store buying some wine when the shootings took place.
Dunn had an out of control temper tantrum probably induced by the booze he guzzled down at the wedding. I would love to know why Dunn was estranged from his son ( the groom at the wedding) for five years. I can imagine Dunn’s ex was in attendance at the wedding so seeing her may have set him off. He left the wedding early to take care of his new puppy…what a crock of doo doo… He also left the scene of the shooting and probably to avoid a DUI. I can’t seem to find out if Dunn is charged with murder in the first or second degree. If you find out, please let me know. I have heard conflicting stories about the charges.

  66. Finally some info… Watch and see…he will bond out…for a million or so…

Michael Dunn, 45, was originally charged with second degree murder and attempted murder in the death of Davis.

Now, Dunn is facing a first degree murder charge, three counts of attempted first degree murder and shooting or throwing a deadly missile, according to Duval County Clerk of Courts records.

Dunn’s arraignment date has also been moved from Dec. 19 to Dec. 17.

It is now reported that 20 young children were shot and did not make it. The death toll is to be 30. Many prayers are needed for the families who suffered a loss and for the community. For crying out loud….an elementary school and young children.

  68. Newbie~~I had to shut off my tv for awhile. It is just too overwhelming.

  69. This site has continuing news-live stream about the shootings at Newtown, Connecticut. I cannot seem to focus my mind on anything else.

I keep trying to make a comment but just can’t put my thoughts into words. This is just overwhelming.

  71. You know, Newbie, a person should talk about it and release their emotions rather than bottle it all up but where in hell do we start? It is almost like a ‘dare me’ game now with some of these young people. They want to see how many people they can kill before they are taken down by a police bullet. I would throw his friggen carcass out in the desert and let the maggots take care of it. The news was slow coming out on HLN because it was so chaotic.in and around the school. They also were looking for someone else who may have been involved.

  72. margaret says:

Newbie, I feel the same way. Those poor parents and the police officers that found the 20 small little bodies. How awful it must have been for them. How scared those little children must have been. I wish the coward that killed them had not killed himself so that community could tear him apart. They are already talking insanity, just an excuse, it takes an evil no good SOB to shoot his mother and then go after these small innocent little victims. My heart is breaking for these families. God be with all of them tonight and in the days to come.

  73. Margaret~~this carnage involves so many many families and extended families. It makes it worse since it is so close to Christmas. The little ones will never get to open the gifts that Mom has hidden away in the closet. Then there are kids who wont have a Mom and Dad for Christmas day and all eternity. I am a mixed bag of emotions, a combination of deep sorrow and rage. I am not writing down all the profanity that I feel like typing here. I never take the Lord’s name in vain as it is not His fault. It is the friggen guns and drugs. Insanity, to that I say bullshit. The bastard shot his Mom in the face at home. They could not identify her for some time. I don’t know if he killed his brother at home or the school. He then went to the school and shot up his Mother’s kindergarten class. Insane, be damned, he was smart enough to gather all the ammunition and guns to go on his rampage. It sounds to me like he was jealous of the little school kids getting his mother’s attention. I wonder if he had a father living at home.

I apologize for sounding off. It is a side of me that I don’t like other people to see.

  76. Newbie says:

I’m glad you are sounding off. You and Margaret. You are saying what I can’t seem to get out…. I type something and delete, type and delete. The dad and brother of the shooter are alive and cooperating. The parents were divorced and it sounded like recently.
I wish it were as simple as guns and drugs but I think it also includes changes in the American family unit, exposure to way too much violence on tv, movies, video games. all which are used at early ages to baby sit children, and on and on.
Tonight I am just thankful my children and grand children are okay and all praying for those going through hell because of a chicken shit bastard.

  77. FYI~~ I turned on the snow in here today. If it bothers anyone’s eyes, let me know. WordPress has the snow available until around Jan 3rd or 4th.

  78. Newbie~~you are right. I am the one not making any sense. Generally both parents work outside the home so yes, tv and video games are the babysitters of today. The tv programs are not fit to watch and there is violence on kid’s programs and cartoons. I am not going to mention Elmo but even all that made me sick. I think Vicky should come in here and duct tape my fingers.

  79. I see Fred Leatherman put a post up about the shooting and I went there and thanked him. I wonder if L.S. will copy what I just wrote and ship it off via email…

  80. Newbie says:

I was wishing Vickie would come in and just show her blingers. I don’t know that duct taping your fingers would keep you from saying what you intend on saying.

  81. Newbie~~I am brave because a border separates us. I informed customs that you are all known felons and have carry and concealed. We have better weapons here in Canada, chain saws, pick axes and shotguns. Now try and conceal one of those? When I mentioned Elmo, it has nothing to do with gay people. I just wish the news medias would not have played it up so much during prime time when kids are watching. Now children will be too frightened to give Elmo a tickle or not sure where to tickle him.

  82. Newbie says:

The news media has become a horse of a different color. It is just another greed factor in our country. I think I am ready to cross your border without any weapons and arm myself after I get there. I hear that a piece of wood can be a quite effective weapon also and that you can back that one up….lol.
You know the reaction to the tragedy is bringing about a lot of talk about changes in laws regarding guns. What comes to my mind is you can pass all the laws you want but when you don’t set out a procedure and budget for enforcement, the law is just something on paper.
Now, I think I will go tickle Elmo…lol.

  83. We are just beginning to see the faces of those precious little ones…

Ana Marquez Greene, a 6-year-old girl who moved to Newtown from Winnipeg, CANADA, with her family, was shot and killed in Friday’s mass shooting. She was one of 20 kids murdered inside Sandy Hook Elementary School.

  84. Lauren Rousseau, 30. Her mother is a News-Times copy editor. Rousseau had just become a permanent teacher in October after previously working as a substitute. Again, from their story by reporter Robert Miller:

Lauren Rousseau’s life was shaping up in the best ways.

At 30, she had a boyfriend, Tony Lusardi III.

“I called her `Busy Bee,’ ” Lusardi said Saturday morning, speaking of the pace Lauren lived her life. “She called me `Worker Bee.’ ”

Family learned early Saturday morning that Lauren was one of six adults killed by a shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary School Friday morning.

Lauren, after years of working as a substitute teacher, — while working other jobs to earn a living — landed a permanent substitute teaching job at Sandy Hook Elementary School in October.

“It was the best year of her life,” said Teresa Rousseau, Lauren’s mother and a copy editor at The News-Times.

  85. Here are a few bits of news. I will supply a source link if requested. I am multitasking between two blogs so bear with me… This will end the highlights until later.. a list of all the victims is due out within minutes..I will post that when it becomes available….

Sources and family members have confirmed that Victoria Leigh Soto, a first-grade teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School, who was among 26 people killed in a horrific shooting Friday at the school. Soto, 27, was a 2003 graduate of Stratford High School, reportedly shielded her first grade students from Adam Lanza’s gunfire with her own body.

The one woman who was shot and survived “will be instrumental in this investigation,” police spokesperson said. She is doing fine.

The principal of Sandy Hook Elementary School allegedly lunged at the gunman before she was fatally shot, reports say.

Dawn Hochsprung, who worked at the school for two years, was about to meet other administrators for a meeting when the gunman found a way into the building, an Associated Press report says. Hochsprung tried to stop him.

When asked if the principal is a hero, Jeff Capeci, chairman of Newtown’s Legislative Council, said, “From what we know, it’s hard to classify her as anything else.”

First, media reported that the shooter’s mother was a kindergarten teacher at Sandy Hook. Then she was reported to be a substitute teacher. Today the school superintendent said on the Today Show that she was NOT in the district database….though she could still be a substitute. So connection of shooter to school remains unclear.

A complete list of names of the 27 victims will be released to media within minutes, said H. Wayne Carver, Connecticut’s chief medical examiner.

  86. margaret says:

My heart is so heavy today. I just can’t imagine being told , as it has been reported, that if my child is not at the firestation they are dead inside school. Dear Lord how that must have devastated those parents.. I am conflicted of myself,. I listen to the excuses for this monster and I can’t muster up any sympathy.for him. The thought of all those terrified little innocent , helpless children just negates any redeeming thoughts for him..Why don’t they call it for what it is just plain EVIL. He knew what he was doing or he would not have killed himself..My one question is, why did his mother have all those guns in her home at his disposal, if they thought he was mentally ill.? Was he hopin to implicate his brother by having his identification?? It has been reported that the brother and father have been estranged for some time.. God forgive me but this old heart is too old to offer any sympathy for this monster. An M.E. is saying most of the children were shot multiple times. We are taught to believe that immediately at death, our souls are with Jesus, so my hope for this monster is that he is burning in hell at this time , with the images of these children flashing before him…. Please forgive me everyone, but this is just too much.and I wish I could do something for all those families. Thanks for the rant.

  87. cali patti says:

At the time our country, USA was formed, there was a genuine reason to be concerned “a power” would attempt to over throw what our forefathers were trying to build. Our new form of laws was radical in its thinking. Freedom for all, wow, that was new concept. We easily could be what Syria is fighting today. We believed in, respected and fought for our right to choose how we as a nation would live.
The 2nd amendment was an important part of that success. That was then, not now. Your semi automatic weapon will do nothing top prevent a drone that has your name on it fired from computer information from the north pole. “They” know where you are.
“They”, who is this They you fear? Our Government is strong and has stood the test of time. Besides “WE” as a nation are the aggressor these days.
Automatic and semi-automatic weapons should be banned from sale. Period. No exceptions. No respectable hunter uses one. Automatic firing weapons are used to kill people, period. Not for any other reason. If you want to kill a person become a sniper by practicing with a single shot rifle. You will need to put time into this but it can be done. Automatic weapon will not save you from a missile or a drone with your name on it.
The law could be passed that a few automatics can be “grandfathered” into ownership but most would have to turned in. Period. These are designed to kill people, why does anyone need one?
All rifles are not to have an altered barrel length. No sawed-off barrels. These also can be grandfathered in for many reasons, but if a newer shotgun is found with a shortened barrel the owner will face mandatory jail time.
Handgun sales need to slow way down maybe even completely stop for a term. Ridiculous how many of these are sold. There is a very limited number of people that should be carrying a handgun around. Permits to carry are given out to anyone for any reason. I think that handgun ownership can be regulated and controlled. it would be a painful process but it could be done. Strong mandatory fines, then jail time for 2nd offence, so on, when anyone is caught carrying a gun would be a good way to begin. Similar to when the highway patrol began its crack down on seat belt wearing. It took paying the fines for people to wear them. Each fine went up in its cost. It took a few years but it worked!

Then mental illness in young adults in this country needs to be addressed. How can we as a family and a nation get a young adult in for treatment when they are an adult.? There is no way. Hmm. So, we wait and pray they never do harm, watch as promising lives are wasted or until they do carnage to someone else. Then they will get help. There is something terribly wrong with this way of life.
Most shootings are done by a young adult that has NOT gotten treatment.

Chit, two police officers responding to a call of a suspecious vehicle at the Dillons store (where I get my prescriptions ) in Topeka were shot and killed. They do not have the suspect in custody but do know who it was. At this time they have an apartment building “sectioned off” and that is all that has been shown on our news. Oh, I guess he had other people in his vehicle who they are seeking at this time. Jesus !!

  94. Newbie says:

Oh, the shooter or suspect was arrested previously as he had a sawed off shotgun. I believe that was eighteen months ago but they said no more than that.

  95. Karen C posted this at Dave’s today

Folks, go take a quick look at HuffingtonPost.com- quickly, as it changes all day long. Right below Senator Feinstein’s pic is a subtitle- there have been SEVEN gun incidents making the news just today/last night- one dude with 47 of them in Indiana at a school, one at a mall in California, one in Vegas, 3 people shot at a hospital in Alabama…. some dead, some wounded, some shooters stymied or talked down. Is this a p#nis guy thing, or what? Do we women have to pull a Lysistrata, or will we get shot for trying? I’m not really kidding here. What DOES it take?

  96. Vicky says:

I just had a not so pleasant debate with my daughter regarding gun control. We had to walk away agreeing to disagree. It sickens me that my attitude about the 2nd Ammendment is so far apart from mainstream society. I am so darn tired of hearing “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” I could scream! I fear the divide is so great, that as with every other tragedy resulting from gun violence, this one too will not result in any meaningful change. And IMO, there is a lot of chiange needed in this country. Seems to me our “hate and violence” cup runneth over, I’m having a really hard time processing this latest tragedy. Just thinking about those poor babies, their teachers, families and first responders experienced breaks my heart. I watched the memorial service. Even that didn’t make me feel any better and arguing with the daughter didn’t help at all. She is such a staunch gun rights supporter. We can’t reason with each other. I think Santa should add her to the naughty list for not argeeing with her mother. LOL

Newbie, I am so sorry to hear about those police officers. Please Keep us updated. I don’t get Topeka news here. I wonder how our governor and legislature will respond.

Wait- how is it Westboro is not already deemed a “hate group”- I know how SPLC sees ’em, as do, like, everybody else on Planet Earth….

  100. I will be updating Newtown, and the shootings on my blog from now on. I did my thing at Dave’s and felt some of his regs may want to get back commenting and linking. lol

  101. Newbie says:

The person who shot and killed two Topeka Ks policeman last night around 6:p.m., was shot and killed this morning around 6 a.m. Details are still sketchy so.

  102. cali patti says:

Since people kill people then allow them to do so with a knife or their fists not a gun. I don’t understand why the mother’s guns were not locked up. Having guns unlocked in her home sure did not protect her.

  103. cali patti says:

I also think there was something wrong with the shooters Mother. She has a mentally ill son (her words) and a collection of guns out in the open, no gun safe. How does that behavior follow logical thinking?

  104. Newbie~~I am glad they caught and killed him. Now we have 2 more police officers dead to add to the long list.

  105. cali patti says:

I followed these hackers for time way back when the Pentagon papers were copied and exposed. If these hackers go after a ?? they will do as they say. It will be very interesting to watch what this group will do to the Westboro group. I hope the hackers will allow the public to know what they do.
When I read their words about coming after the Westboro group it gave me the chills.

Copied this from a Yahoo report from a blog, Lookout.com.
After the Westboro Baptist Church posted on Twitter its intention to picket the Newtown, Conn., site where 26 shooting victims died, including 20 children, hackers retaliated.
The reason for the protest? Reportedly because Connecticut has legalized same-sex marriage.
Shirley Phelps-Roper, a spokesperson for the Topeka, Kan., Westboro church and daughter of church founder Fred Phelps, put on Twitter, “Westboro will picket Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment.”

Over the weekend, the hacktivist group Anonymous posted what it said was church members’ personal information. In a video posted on Vimeo, the hacker group accused the organization of “breeding hatred” and adding, “We will destroy you. We are coming.”
The Anonymous site has also directed readers to an online petition, found at a portal on the White House website, asking that the church’s tax-exempt status be investigated. Over 9,000 signatures have been added. The petition reads in part:

The Westboro Baptist Church is better-known for homophobic displays, suing people and picketing funerals than for providing Christian care to a community. Due to their harassment and politicking, their IRS tax-exempt status should be immediately investigated.
Another petition, found at the same portal, wants the Westboro Baptist Church to be identified as a hate group, not a religious group. It notes that the church has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and has “repeatedly displayed the actions typical of hate groups.” That petition has received over 107,000 signatures so far.
Westboro Baptist Church members have been present at funerals for victims of mass shootings in Tucson, Ariz., and Aurora, Colo.
Citing the First Amendment, the Supreme Court ruled on Westboro’s behalf that it may protest at funerals.

  106. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It was an emotional day for Jordan Davis’ parents. For the first time since their son’s death, they came face to face with his accused killer.

“To see him physically standing before us, I feel so sorry for him, I feel so sorry for him because he has to bear the burden for the rest of his life” said Lucia McBath, Jordan Davis’ mother.

A shackled 45-year-old Michael Dunn walked into a Duval County courtroom this morning.

His new attorney Cory Strolla, entered not guilty pleas on all counts and does not discard the possibility of using the controversial Stand Your Ground Law in his defense.

“If the facts fit the law, if they do and I research it, if it’s a viable defense, a reasonable defense, I’m going to vigorously pursue that on behalf of Michael Dunn” said Cory Strolla, defense attorney.

Dunn is facing one count of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis and three counts of attempted murder.

  107. cali patti says:

I doubt Dunn will ever walk free again. He will spend the rest of his life in a Florida prison. How lucky I feel for having 3 sons that went out with their friends and they all came home alive. The family Jordan Davis has to live with the loss forever. Another gun killing.

  108. Some info I am hearing on HLN… Adam allegedly shot his mother while she was still in her pyjamas in bed. Adam supposedly was diagnosed with Aspergers but some specalists feel he was misdiagnosed. Apparently outbursts of violent anger is very rare with Asperges.

  109. I heard on HLN that Nancy left Adam alone for 3 or 4 days before the shootings. She checked in at a hotel in New Hampshire. Why did she leave Adam alone in the house with five guns??

Nancy Lanza, whose gun collection was raided by her son Adam for Friday’s massacre at Sandy Hook school, was part of the “prepper” movement, which urges readiness for social chaos by hoarding supplies and training with weapons.

“She prepared for the worst,” her sister-in-law Marsha Lanza told reporters. “Last time we visited her in person, we talked about prepping – are you ready for what could happen down the line, when the economy collapses?”

It also emerged that Lanza had spoken of her fears less than a week before the attack that she was “losing” her son.

“She said it was getting worse. She was having trouble reaching him,” said a friend who did not want to be named.
